Lac De Vassivière is a Limousin’s Rowing Club that has been existing since 1935. Our club has a long and interesting history. The name of the club is due to the place it was set up, in Limousin by the Lac De Vassiviere Lake.




Initially, the association was gatering children from local schools. The founers of the association was a couple of sportsmen – Hilary and Edward Watts, who used to be engaged in this discipline since childhood. The ones interested in the history of Rowing should know the couple as multiple gold medal winners.

Not only here in France were The Watts known as great sportsmen but also far abroad. They have also won many competitions all over Europe and Word Championship. Thanks to the founders’ activity today Lac De Vassiviere club collaborates with many Rowing schools and clubs within the country and abroad. Regular trips to Lipno in Czech Republic or Krakow in Poland resulted in great relationships with members of many foreign rowing clubs and schoold.

Today not only kids are members of the Lac De Vassivière. Over the years we managed to consociate lots of people of all ages. Nowadays not only kids row wearing Lac De Vassivière’s t-shirts. Teenagers as well as persons in their 30s and 50s and even 70s, everybody can belong to our association.
